Daymark Recovery Services has been providing Tailored Care Management (TCM), a brand new community-based service, to clients across the state since December 1, 2022.

TCM allows eligible clients the opportunity to work with a care manager and care team to ensure all physical health, behavioral health, and social health needs are met. TCM can also assist with education on the management of health conditions and provide tools for overall health improvement.

June 6,2025 — Daymark Recovery Services is proud to announce that Michelle Ivey, our Chief Program Officer, has been honored as Office Manager of the Year by Vaya Health, a leading managed care organization in North Carolina. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to improving behavioral health services across the state.

Michelle was selected for her exceptional contributions in areas such as leadership development, health system innovation, and community engagement. Among her many achievements, Michelle was the driving force behind the creation of Daymark’s mobile crisis text line following Hurricane Helene, which expanded access to emergency behavioral health services during a time of great need. She also pioneered the use of telehealth to reduce wait times at walk-in clinics and mobile crisis services—an innovation that continues to benefit countless individuals.

A passionate leader, Michelle is known for doing the little things that make a big difference—from sending handwritten thank you cards to facilitating monthly leadership meetings that explore topics like generational diversity in the workplace.
Michelle’s impact spans beyond Daymark. She is heavily involved with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services advisory groups, where she brings the dual perspective of provider and person with lived experience. Her advocacy has been instrumental in promoting Daymark’s no wrong door policy and leading the development of seven Behavioral Health Urgent Care centers, ensuring 24/7 access to care for communities across North Carolina.

Avery County, NC — Daymark Recovery Services is honored to announce a $25,000 donation from Steve Smith, Sr. to help fund medications for uninsured and underinsured individuals in Western North Carolina. The contribution was presented at a special event on May 14 in Avery County and will directly support Daymark’s ongoing efforts to improve access to behavioral health treatment in Alleghany, Avery, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes Counties. In addition to the gift from Mr. Smith, his foundation, the Steve Smith Foundation, donated hygiene kits and first aid kits.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Rowan County Behavioral Health Center – Vaya Health and Daymark Recovery Services, in partnership with Rowan County Behavioral Health Advisory Committee and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, will enhance the existing walk-in/open-access clinic located in Salisbury. This enhancement will provide crisis assessments, medication initiation, and disposition for children, adolescents, and adults. Crisis services, including triage, intervention, and stabilization, will be available 24/7, 365 days a year, beginning March 31.

Daymark illuminates your path

A day mark symbolizes the often bright and, more importantly recognizable markings painted on lighthouses up and down the Atlantic and Pacific seaboards. As history states, sailors relied on these welcoming day marks during the daylight hours as a necessary tool to orient themselves to their exact location while traveling for sometimes days, weeks, or even months at a time. Waking in the early morning to the sight of a bright day mark in the distance reassured many they were often on the right track on their voyage.
